BALLER MOVE: Add in 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 13% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: I might be wrong but I consider myself one of the very few believers in this 49ers team. Most projections put San Francisco under the Rams and Seahawks in the NFC West and didn't give the 49ers more than seven wins all season long, at most. Right now, the 49ers boast a 2-0 record. And while it might not all be due to Deebo Samuel's performances, he had a lot to say in Week 2.
Samuel's debut wasn't that good. It wasn't Dante Pettis-level of invisibility, but Samuel was only targeted three times out of 60 snaps he was on the field. He didn't have a bad game given his chances, though, catching the three passes thrown his way. He came more than ready for the second game of the 49ers season at Cincinnati, though.
With Jimmy Garoppolo looking to bounce back from a bad outing against Tampa on Week 1, Deebo Samuel became the No. 1 option on offense for Garoppolo and he excelled. Samuel finished this weekend's game with five receptions on seven targets for 87 yards and a touchdown. To bulk up his PPR to a final 20.4 score, he added seven more yards through two carries on the ground. He led all San Francisco's receivers in the aforementioned categories and his touchdown came on a two-yard pass to the corner of the endzone.
With Dante Pettis looking like a walking flop and nothing close to the hype surrounding him during the preseason, and only Greg Kittle and Marquise Goodwin as opportunity takers from Samuel, the rookie wideout should be someone to keep on the bench of any 12-team or deeper league to exploit favorable matchups going forward.
