5 years agoNew Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees will get surgery as early as Monday on his injured thumb and could miss up to six weeks. This is obviously a crushing blow for the veteran signal-caller's fantasy value and a massive blow to the Saints offense in general. Teddy Bridgewater was serviceable in a tough spot on Sunday, but he doesn't have Brees' arm and historically doesn't take as many chances down the field. The lack of deep passes makes it hard to roster Tre'Quan Smith and Ted Ginn in 12-team leagues or shallower, but Jared Cook's value may hold steady as a safety blanket for Bridgewater. Look for the Saints to rely far more on Alvin Kamara and Latavius Murray in the short-term, but this is a disappointing turn of events for sure.--Eric Samulski - RotoBaller
