Hector Neris Logs 28th Save
5 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies relief pitcher Hector Neris pitched a scoreless ninth inning to pick up his 28th save of the season Wednesday night against the Braves. Neris was called on to protect a three-run lead and did so with little drama striking out the first two batters he faced before getting Dansby Swanson to line out to end the game. The scoreless outing lowers his ERA to 2.98 to go with a 1.06 WHIP. Neris contributes in strikeouts as well with 87 strikeouts in 66 1/3 innings thanks to an elite 32 percent strikeout rate. He is the clear-cut closer in Philadelphia and should be owned in all leagues where saves matter.
