ANALYSIS: In a surprising development, the 2019 Dallas Cowboys appear to be an offensive juggernaut. On Sunday, two Cowboys running backs each had 100-yard rushing days for the first time since the Emmitt Smith era, as both Ezekiel Elliott and rookie Tony Pollard reached that mark.
Pollard was a popular late-round pick when it looked like Elliott was going to hold out and miss parts of the regular season, but when Elliott showed up it looked like Pollard's time would have to wait.
But the Cowboys clearly want to rest Zeke more than in past seasons to keep their newly paid running back healthy. Pollard has seen double-digit carries in two of Dallas' three games. A lot of people chalked that up to "well, Zeke is still getting in shape" for Week 1, but after Week 3's 13-carry, 103-yard performance, it's looking like Pollard has some standalone value behind this strong offensive line.
Pollard's value on a week-to-week basis will depend on how the Cowboys play and if they can justify lowering Elliott's workload, but in good matchups for Dallas, expect Pollard to get work. He's a flex option against bad defenses.
