Edwin Encarnacion Hopes To Be Back Wednesday
5 years agoNew York Yankees designated hitter Edwin Encarnacion (oblique) is hoping to return Wednesday at Tampa Bay, but manager Aaron Boone said Friday at Texas is more likely. Encarnacion has been out since Sept. 12 with a left oblique strain but had four home runs in eight games this month, so if he gets back on the field, he could be a good source of power for those chasing home runs. Assuming the division-champion Yankees don't rush Encarnacion back from injury and he plays Friday, he'll have a fantastic matchup against Rangers rookie lefty Joe Palumbo. Encarnacion has hit 11 home runs in 106 at-bats versus southpaws and has only struck out 22 times against 21 walks.
