ANALYSIS: So, Benjamin Watson.
After retiring this past offseason, Watson decided to unretire and join the Patriots. He was then promptly hit with a four-game PED suspension.
That suspension is over. Tom Brady has a tight end now. This could be good.
Watson isn't Rob Gronkowski, so we shouldn't expect Brady to go back to targeting tight ends as much as he did when Gronkowski was on this team. But Watson's no slouch. Last year, he caught 35 passes for 400 yards and two scores in New Orleans. Since 2015, he has 12 receiving touchdowns despite not playing in 2016.
Yes, he's turning 39 in December, but Watson can be a viable red zone option for Brady and can help the team move the chains, as 22 of his 35 catches went for first downs. He's worth a roster spot if you're currently looking for help at tight end.
