5 years agoVegas Golden Knights defenseman Nate Schmidt will be evaluated on a week-to-week basis after suffering a lower-body injury in a knee-on-knee collision with Logan Couture in the team's season opener. Schmidt had scored 30 or more points in two straight seasons with the Golden Knights and was expected to play a big role on the team's second power-play unit. Rookies Jimmy Schuldt and Nicolas Hague will be the top options to slot into Schmidt's spot until he returns. --Nate Duffett
