James Paxton Can't Escape Fifth Inning
5 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher James Paxton allowed three runs across 4 2/3 innings pitched in Game 1 against the Twins. Paxton struck out eight, allowed five hits, and only walked one while taking a no-decision in his postseason debut. Paxton pitched better than his final line would indicate, but was plagued by a short home run and lost a ten-pitch battle with Jorge Polanco to plate the run that would knock Paxton out of the game. Paxton would be in line to pitch Game 5 if needed, but he may not be worth the price in DFS pitching against a Twins lineup that had the highest team batting average vs left-handed pitching.
