Jack Flaherty Gets Win, Goes Six Strong Innings in Game 5
5 years agoSt. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Jack Flaherty was able to pitch with a 10-plus run lead for the entire game, so there wasn’t much to stress about in Game 5 of the National League Division Series against the Braves. Still, he went six innings, struck out eight and allowed just one run on a solo shot to Josh Donaldson. The Cardinals got put to a fierce 10-0 first-inning lead and Flaherty didn’t let the Braves flirt with a comeback. He did get stretched to 104 pitches, so expect him to need a full five days of rest. The Cardinals move on to face either the Nationals or Dodgers in the NLCS.
