BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 18% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: As a long-time Houston Texans fan, I've been suspicious of Darren Fells because the Bill O'Brien era has definitely not been kind to tight ends. But after another two touchdown performance, it's time to admit that Fells is worth a roster spot in 12-team leagues.
Fells already has more touchdowns (five) than he's ever had in a season. We're only heading into Week 9, so Fells has a chance to continue shattering that career high.
What Fells has become for quarterback Deshaun Watson is the ultimately big red zone target. We saw that on Sunday, as Fells came down with a pair of scores, including one on a broken play where Watson was kicked in the eye and still was able to get the ball to his big target for the touchdown.
Fells is a very good blocker, which helps get him on the field in red zone situations, which also allows him to be lethal in play action down near the goal line. Watson and the Texans coaching staff trusts Fells, and that trust has been rewarded so far.
I still don't know how willing I'd be to play Fells every week, as his lows have definitely been low. But as a streaming option in a 12-team or deeper league, I'd definitely consider him based on his recent play.
