ANALYSIS: After finally breaking out last week against the Dolphins, James Conner reminded us of the talent that he is and the upside that he brings fantasy owners. He’s started off slow, but had his first 100+ rushing yard game last week as well as one touchdown. Conner is dealing with a shoulder injury and hasn’t been practicing this week, leaving Jaylen Samuels as the running back to step in, should Conner miss time.
Samuels has shown flashes this year and last year, and is more than capable of having a role on this offense, even when Conner is healthy. The entire Steelers offense has been disappointing this year since they lost Ben Roethlisberger, and it isn’t too shocking that both Conner and JuJu Smith-Schuster had great games last week against the Dolphins.
If Conner misses time, Samuels immediately jumps into a solid RB2 role for fantasy purposes this week as the Steelers are at home against the Colts. Samuels is definitely worth taking a shot on for immediate production, as well as stashing him at the bottom of your roster as a valuable handcuff for the rest of the season.
