Dawson Knox (TE, BUF) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

ANALYSIS: Dawson Knox took advantage of the poor Miami Dolphins Defense to haul in his second touchdown of the season this past Sunday. The Buffalo Bills tight end was targeted three times and caught only two of those passes, but those were more than enough to make him put his name in the scoresheet. Knox is not a huge-volume tight end and hasn’t been during all of the season, so his fantasy outcomes have been quite limited and the score definitely helped him broke the 10-point barrier for the second time this year.

Having Josh Allen as a quarterback might actually be helping him a bit, though, as Allen has been one of the most reliable throwers out there. Even with that, though, Knox has had six games of five or fewer fantasy points, while he bested the 10-point mark last Sunday (11.2) and in Week 3 (16.6). At his best, Knox has shown enough abilities to play as a 50-yard catcher on average with upside to get a score here and there.

The Bills are entering a two-game slate in the next couple of weeks in which Knox could turn his season around and improve it vastly. Buffalo will face Denver (21st at defending TEs) and Dallas (29th) in two matchups really favorable for Knox. Considering how there are just two or three weekly reliable tight ends in the whole NLF, and that the rest of players carry huge volatility with them, you won’t be worse adding Knox that you’d be adding any other player you might find for free in waivers.

I wouldn’t say he is a viable option to stream in shallow leagues as there might be some other tight ends that slips through the cracks in those, but definitely consider streaming him if you are part of a deeper fantasy league to make him your starting tight end the next couple of weeks.
