Baker Mayfield Practicing Fully on Wednesday
5 years agoAccording to head coach Freddie Kitchens, Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield (thumb) will practice in full on Wednesday as the team prepares to take on the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 14. Mayfield hit his thumb on a defender's facemask during the Browns' Week 13 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers but was able to return and finish the game after getting X-rays. Kitchens indicated that Mayfield will not be limited in practice this week, although Mayfield did not throw a pass during the open portion of Wednesday's practice and he was spotted with a wrap on his right hand and thumb. Mayfield's availability on the first day of the practice week is a good sign for Sunday but he doesn't appear to be out of the woods just yet. The Bengals have struggled against the quarterback position this season, which makes Mayfield a high-upside QB2 in the first round of the fantasy playoffs. If Mayfield is unable to suit up, backup quarterback Garrett Gilbert would presumably start.
