Breshad Perriman (WR, TB) - Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 11% of Leagues

ANALYSISMike Evans’ came first. Chris Godwin’s followed. The injury bug has hit Tampa Bay so hard that none other than Breshard Perriman has become the go-to guy of the Bucs attack, and he’s more than handling that task. Perriman had his best game ever this past Sunday against Detroit, finishing with 34.6 fantasy points. All he did was catch five passes (six targets) for 113 yards and three (!) touchdowns. That served him well to keep up his two-game scoring streak and was also the third game in a row in which he’s finished with double-digit fantasy points.

Perriman was completely out of the fantasy equation three weeks ago. Then, against Jacksonville, he had a little bit of a moment when he caught five passes for 87 yards and finished with a good WR3/flex-level 13.7 fantasy points. He leveled up against Indianapolis in Week 14 by lowering his receiving numbers (70 yards on three receptions) but catching a touchdown, reaching up to 16 FP good for a WR2 role. Now, this past Sunday, all hell broke loose.

With both Evans and Godwin out, there is no other way around it for Tampa than making Perriman its no. 1 WR. We have to see him yet in that role, but so far so good for him during the last three weeks in a heavier workload. Tampa faces Houston (18th-best defense against WRs) next so it won’t be a nightmare of a matchup for Perriman at least on paper. I’d make Perriman my flex play start on championship weekend almost eyes closed given his role going forward and what he’s been able to do lately. If you play in a 12-team league it might be a risky play but still considerable if you need depth, but if you play in a deeper league I wouldn’t really give it any second thoughts and go pick him up as soon as possible.
