5 years agoWashington Capitals center Nicklas Backstrom scored the team's first goal in Wednesday's 3-2 loss to Philadelphia, extending his point streak to seven games. Jakub Vrana also netted one for the Caps, taking his point streak to four games. Backstrom missed a good chunk of the season with an upper-body injury, but he's returned in top form, averaging 1.14 points per game across his last 16 outings. The Swedish center is in a great spot to extend his point streak even further, with Washington hosting the struggling Devils on Saturday. Backstrom produced a four-point display against them in the previous meeting on Dec. 20.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
