John Tavares, Frederik Gauthier, Zach Hyman and William Nylander each scored a goal in the victory, while goaltender Frederik Andersen posted his 22nd win of the season. Matthews has continued his hot streak into the month of January, as the fourth year center has posted seven goals, nine points and a plus-four rating through six games to begin the new year.
