BALLER MOVE: Add In 12-Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 31% of leagues
ANALYSIS: The Timberwolves have changed more than half of the players in their roster during the past few days leading up to the trade deadline. The team is barely recognizable and one of his stars during the past five seasons, Andrew Wiggins, has left to open the path for D'Angelo Russell to take that label going forward. One of the survivors to the shuffle, Josh Okogie, has flown under the radar all season and improved his game on a steady basis during the last month.
Although Okogie had a slow start to the season, he has averaged 11.1 ppg, 4.2 rpg, 1.8 apg, and 1.6 spg going back to Jan. 11. That day marked Okogie's best performance of the year when he finished with a 16-5-5-4-1 line against Houston in 30 minutes. Back then, those minutes were a total outlier in Okogie's game log. These days, though, Okogie is playing an average of almost 28 minutes per night and he even started the last couple of Minny's games. In the aforementioned span (from Jan. 11 on) Okogie has logged 24+ minutes in 10 games and in all but three of them he's scored at least 12 points while contributing almost 5 rebounds and 2 assists.
One of Okogie's strengths comes in the shooting department, as he's not someone to rely on from the three-point line (just 0.6 3pm per game on the season) but he excels on the mid-range and interior game hitting 47.6% of his shots from the floor since Jan. 11. Another good trait are his free-throws, as he's taking an average of 4 fta per game while scoring them at a 72.3% clip. The addition of Malik Beasley might impact his numbers, but I'd advise picking him up (if you have room) until we know more as you'll always have time to drop him later.
