5 years agoThe San Diego Padres signed infielder Gordon Beckham to a minor league deal on Feb. 10 with an invitation to big league camp. The veteran 33-year-old appeared in 83 games for the Detroit Tigers last season, posting a modest .643 OPS across 240 plate appearances. It has never really clicked in the majors for the 2008 first-round pick, who owns a career 80 wRC+. He’ll compete with infielders Ty France and Greg Garcia, among others, to provide depth, but is a long shot to make the team.
