5 years agoDefenseman John Carlson was an offensive force again on Thursday night as the Washington Capitals overtook the Colorado Avalanche by a score of 3-2. Carlson provided two helpers and now has 12 points over his last 10 games. On the season, he has 69 points in 57 games. T.J. Oshie scored a goal for the third straight game. He has 11 points over the past 10 games. Nicklas Backstrom scored his first goal in seven games. Although he’s had trouble finding the back of the net, the veteran forward still has five points over the past four games. Tom Wilson’s goal put him within two of his career-high in points which was set at 40 last season. Lars Eller had two assists. Jakub Vrana’s assist helped him tie his career-high in points at 47. He’s also one goal away from matching his career-high in goals at 24. Goaltender Braden Holtby stopped 32 of 34 shots for the win. He’s now been good in two straight games. --Marc Hulet - RotoBaller
