Garrett Richards Shouldn't Be Limited In 2020
5 years agoSan Diego Padres starter Garrett Richards should have a restriction-free workload in 2020, assuming he emerges from spring training unscathed. The 31-year-old underwent Tommy John surgery in July 2018 and returned to toss just 8 2/3 frames at the end of last season. Richards’ last full campaign was in 2015 when he posted a 3.65 ERA across 207 1/3 innings. He’s been limited to just 31 appearances since. Expected to slot at the top of the Friars rotation, a bounce back season could be invaluable for a young roster expected to take a leap. Currently drafted outside the top-100 pitchers with a 284 ADP, Richards is a late-round sleeper candidate for rosters that can absorb the injury risk.
