5 years agoCincinnati Reds shortstop prospect Jose Israel Garcia is impressing in his first big-league camp. Garcia's blend of tools at the plate and in the field has been on display throughout camp, catching the eye of none other than Hall of Famer Barry Larkin. “I think he has all the tools to do it,” Larkin said. “I mean, look at him. It’s amazing. But he plays correctly. He gets to the ball. He’s under control. He’s got a great knack for the game. He’s got good baseball IQ." Garcia is the No. 6 prospect in the Cincinnati system, according to Baseball America. Most expect Garcia to open the season at Double-A Chattanooga with a shot at joining the big leagues in 2021.
