5 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Luis Severino (elbow) had Tommy John surgery on Thursday. Severino’s surgery was reportedly successful, and the pitcher also had a bone chip removed from his elbow in the process. Severino’s best-case scenario for a return date seems to be the start of the 2021 season, but it’s more likely that Severino will return sometime around May of next year. Still, it’s encouraging that Severino’s surgery went well and that his bone-chip issue was resolved. When healthy, Severino is an ace with a 3.18 ERA and 28.8% strikeout rate between 2017 and 2018, so he still has value as a long-term hold in dynasty leagues.--Sam Chinitz
