Juan Toscano-Anderson (SG/SF, GSW): Week 20 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add In 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 5% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Getting Juan Toscano-Anderson in your roster won't make you a league-winner overnight. Now, with that out of the way and already out there in the known, picking Toscano-Anderson up is an absolute upside-based move. Juan is one of the last additions to the great Warriors experiment the 2020 season is for San Francisco's franchise. With nothing to lose, the Warriors have turned this year into a full tryout of young bodies (Ky Bowman, Jordan Poole,...) and long-forgotten stories (Marquese Chriss, Willie Cauley-Stain,...) that have or have not worked out ultimately. But hey, you don't know if you don't try!

Enter Juan, a 26-year-old G-Leaguer that made his NBA debut on Feb. 8 playing 19 minutes and finishing his first pro-game at the highest level with a 5-3-2 line and a triple to his name against the very own LA Lakers. Since that game, Juan has played another seven and he's averaged 25 mpg in the last five, all after the break, even starting the one on Feb. 29 against Phoenix while staying on the court for more than 30 minutes. As I said, Juan is not a league-winner (he's averaging 6.3 ppg, 3.8 rpg, 2 apg, and 1.25 spg for Golden State) but his role might grow during the rest of the season as part of the rotation of a team that has no real aspirations in 2020.

The Warriors are bringing Stephen Curry back during the next few days and that will boost up the value of every other Golden State player. Toscano-Anderson will obviously remain as a secondary piece in the rotation, and his starting days are not guaranteed at all going forward, but he can provide some value off the bench in 20-to-25 minutes of run nightly. Consider adding him but always keep in mind what you're getting, a role player on limited minutes on a sort of tryout for an NBA team. As long as he keeps his game up he'll remain to get minutes. The moment he flops, though, he might be left of the rotation entirely.
