DJ LeMahieu Goes 2-For-3 On Tuesday
5 years agoNew York Yankees infielder DJ LeMahieu came into Tuesday’s game with a rough .670 spring OPS but picked up a pair of hits against the Red Sox on Tuesday. LeMahieu is slated to start the year as the starting second baseman for the Yankees after hitting .327 with a .893 OPS last season. LeMahieu pushed his barrel rate up to 7.5% while maintaining a strong 91.7 mph average exit velocity and 47.2% hard-hit rate, resulting in an impressive .417 xwOBA on contact. With a 6.6% swinging-strike rate and a 30.2% chase rate, LeMahieu also boasts a strong plate approach that kept his strikeout rate down to 13.7% last year. Based on last year’s performance, LeMahieu should again post an OPS north of .850 with a sub-20% strikeout rate, making him a valuable fantasy option.
