5 years agoNew York Mets starting pitcher Noah Syndergaard is working this spring to curb base-stealing success against him. Syndergaard has been plagued by his inability to hold runners on first base throughout his career. For Syndergaard's career, base-stealers have been successful 89 percent of the time against him. In 2019, 42 of 45 (93 percent) of base-stealers were successful against him. Overall, Syndergaard had a disappointing 2019 in which he posted a career-worst ERA of 4.28. A potential bounce-back candidate in 2020, Syndergaard has the upside to finish as a top-20 starting pitcher. If Syndergaard can successfully curtail base running liberties taken against him, it would go a long way toward lowering his ERA and achieving this upside in 2020.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
