5 years agoNew York Yankees catcher Gary Sanchez (back) was held out of batting practice on Saturday as he deals with a sore back. The Yankees are optimistic about Sanchez’s injury and don’t expect him to miss any time, but the catcher’s health bears monitoring as the season approaches. Sanchez has played in more than 120 games just once in his major league career so far, and the 27-year-old only played in 106 games last season while dealing with groin and calf strains. Sanchez’s back hasn’t been an issue in the past, and he’s an elite fantasy catcher when healthy with a career .846 OPS and 2.65 K/BB ratio. Sanchez’s back soreness shouldn’t affect his fantasy value yet, but if it becomes a persistent issue, then it could cause him to miss time.--Sam Chinitz
