Jaguars Sign Chris Thompson
5 years agoThe Jacksonville Jaguars have signed former Redskins running back Chris Thompson to a one-year deal. When healthy, Thompson is one of the NFL's most interesting pass-catching backs, but he hasn't played more than 11 games in a season since 2016. Thompson won't be much of a threat to take rushing attempts away from anyone -- Leonard Fournette or Ryquell Armstead if Fournette is traded -- as he's seen his rushing attempts drop off over the years, down to 3.4 per game last year. Where he'll make his impact is in the receiving game, as he's been targeted at least 48 times in five consecutive seasons and has proven to be a dynamic option who is capable of ripping off huge plays out in space. Expect quarterback Gardner Minshew II to use Thompson as a safety valve on third downs and for Thompson to have some low-end flex value this season.
