Chase Elliott Finishes Third In Coca-Cola 600
5 years agoWhen the caution flew in the closing laps of the 2020 Coca-Cola 600, Chase Elliott found himself in the worst possible position: leading the race. With an overtime period coming up and fresh tires being vital, Elliott -- who led 38 laps on Sunday -- had to decide if he should pit or not, knowing that the drivers close to him on the track would do the opposite. He pitted, restarting ninth and getting all the way up to third during the two-lap shootout. It's a solid finish for a driver who had had bad luck and crashed out at Darlington, but DFS players who had Elliott rostered have to be upset by the late race caution that was brought out by Elliott's Hendrick Motorsports teammate William Byron spinning. Still, he had a good car on Sunday and should be a threat to win on Wednesday when the Cup Series comes back to this track.
