Matt Ryan Compares 2020 Skill Players to 2012 Unit
4 years agoAtlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan said that the skill players on the 2020 roster compare favorably with those from the 2012 unit, a team that came close to reaching the Super Bowl. The 2012 offense featured Michael Turner, Hall of Famer Tony Gonzalez and an excellent duo of receivers on the outside in Roddy White and Julio Jones. Of this year's offense, Ryan said, "You're talking about Julio in his prime, Calvin Ridley going into Year 3 coming into his own. You've got Todd Gurley II, who is hungry, who wants to prove it this year. Hayden Hurst is a former first-round draft pick who just ended up in a spot where the way they were running the football, it was no fault of his own that he didn't have the stats." There's certainly potential for the unit as a whole to be as good as in 2012, though there will be several mouths to feed for fantasy purposes. Ryan is a safe QB1 if you don't want to spend big on guys like Patrick Mahomes and Lamar Jackson.
