4 years agoSan Diego Padres pitching prospect Luis Patino allowed one hit in three frames in the Friars intrasquad game Thursday. Riding a fastball that hit 97 mph, the team’s No. 3 prospect continued making his claim for the roster. Patino excelled in 2019 across High-A and Double-A, recording a 2.57 ERA and 11.7 K/9 across 94 2/3 innings. With four of five rotation slots locked up, Patino’s best shot to contribute will be in relief. With the bullpen suffering a few key injuries already, the outlook is brightening. The 20-year-old is likely to debut during the 2020 season, but without a clear role, his fantasy relevance is reserved for anxious dynasty managers.--Andrew Le - RotoBaller
