Jeter Downs Added To Red Sox Player Pool
4 years agoBoston Red Sox prospect Jeter Downs has been added to the team's player pool and will report to the alternate training site in Pawtucket, which will open this weekend. The 21-year-old was a key piece of the blockbuster trade which sent outfielder Mookie Betts and starting pitcher David Price to the Los Angeles Dodgers in February. Joining Downs as the recent additions to the player pool are center fielder Jarren Duran and pitchers Bryan Mata, Jay Groome and Tanner Houck. Other prospects that have been added include first baseman Josh Ockimey, catcher Jhonny Pereda and pitchers R.J. Alvarez and Bobby Poyner. MLB.com has ranked Downs as the top prospect in the Red Sox system, making the middle infielder a must-own in dynasty formats. Downs will continue his development at the alternate training site in 2020, while he is on track to join the big league club in the coming years.
