Clayton Kershaw Placed On Injured List With Back Injury
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers left-handed pitcher Clayton Kershaw (back) has been placed on the injured list due to back stiffness, sidelining him ahead of what was planned to be his Opening Day start Thursday against the Giants. Right-handed pitcher Dustin May has been recalled and will take Kershaw’s spot on the mound. Kershaw has battled back injuries over the past handful of seasons and his placement on the IL does not bode well for his prospects moving forward in the drastically shortened 2020 season. May, conversely, is an excellent DFS option Thursday for those who can still slot him into their lineups. Long viewed as one of LA’s top pitching prospects, he compiled a 3.63 ERA in 14 appearances (four starts) with the Dodgers last season.
