Jake Cave Picks Up Two Hits Against White Sox
4 years agoMinnesota Twins outfielder Jake Cave filled in admirably for Byron Buxton (foot). Cave came to the plate five times, notching a pair of singles, two RBI and striking out twice. The 27-year-old drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single in the first inning, giving Minnesota a 4-0 lead. Cave played well for the injured Buxton last year, posting an .805 OPS in 228 plate appearances. He had an excellent 52.3 % hard contact rate but that came with a 31.1% strikeout percentage. He'll have to display more patience at the plate while keeping his aggressive nature at the dish. At the very least, Cave could be a nice temporary replacement for Buxton in fantasy lineups if managers have nowhere else to turn.
