BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% of leagues
ANALYSIS: It's a surprise that Smoak is just 7% owned. We covered him as a Week 1 waiver pick-up, and then he went out and started three straight games as the clean-up hitter for the Brewers. He went 3-11 with a HR and one RBI in those games, so he didn't set the world on fire, but it's rare that you can go to the waivers to pick up a clean-up hitter in an offense that figures to be as dynamic as Milwaukee's does.
Don't get scared off by the average start either. Smoak's BB% continues to grow, rising to 15.8% in 2019 and giving him a K%-BB% of 5.4%, which is astronomically low for a player with his power. His average exit velocity of 90.3 was good for 68th in the league, his Sweet Spot% went up to 37.5% and he's always had strong barrel rates. On top of that, Smoak's new home stadium is fifth-best in the league for power to RF, and Smoak pulled the ball 50.7% of the time as a left-handed hitter last year, which could lead to a fair few HRs this short season.
