4 years agoOakland Athletics starting pitcher Mike Fiers allowed four runs in four innings pitched in a no-decision vs the Angels on Sunday. Fiers allowed seven hits and did not walk a batter, and also failed to record a strikeout. Fiers was staked a 5-0 lead after the first inning, but put two men on base ahead of Mike Trout which came back to bite Fiers when the Angels superstar launched a three-run shot to bring the Angels back into the game. Fiers made the same mistake in the fifth inning, but was pulled before facing Trout again who finished off Fiers' line by driving in one more run. Fiers struggled last season putting up a 5.19 xFIP and won't rack up enough strikeouts to be an appealing fantasy option, despite a good matchup vs Seattle lined up in his next start.--Mike Schwarzenbach - RotoBaller
