4 years agoNew York Mets relief pitcher Seth Lugo earned his first save of the season on Monday in the Mets 7-4 win over the Red Sox. Lugo pitched the final inning and one-third allowing no hits, no walks and striking out one. Lugo typically can't pitch on back-to-back days and as a result, it is likely Mets manager Luis Rojas stuck with Lugo in the ninth inning given that he would be unavailable on Tuesday. Lugo primarily works as a set up man to closer Edwin Diaz. However, Diaz already has one blown save in just two opportunities this season and is coming off an abysmal 2019. Lugo could be in the mix for saves more consistently if Diaz is removed from the closer role and Rojas decides to go with a committee including Lugo, Diaz and Dellin Betances. Lugo should be on the radar of owners in need of saves in those leagues where he is not already rostered.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
