4 years agoNew York Mets pitcher David Peterson won his major league debut against the Red Sox on Tuesday evening. Peterson (1-0) went 5 2/3 innings pitched allowing seven hits, two earned runs, and two walks, while striking out three in the Mets 8-3 win. Peterson, the Mets top draft pick in 2017 and the Mets 10th ranked prospect by MLB Pipeline, looked impressive in spots as he worked out of trouble during the game. Peterson became the first left-handed pitcher in 18 years to last at least five innings in a big league debut at Fenway Park. It is unclear whether the Mets will keep Peterson in the rotation permanently once Marcus Stroman (leg) returns from the injured list. In the short term though, this performance would suggest that Peterson will remain in the rotation until Stroman returns. This makes him an attractive streaming option in daily leagues and in DFS formats. Peterson will almost assuredly be part of the Mets rotation in 2021 and should be on the radars of dynasty league owners to see how he performs for the remainder of the 2020 season.--Nick Ritrivi - RotoBaller
