4 years agoWashington Nationals reliever Daniel Hudson got the ball in the ninth inning of Thursday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays and shut the door. Hudson picked up his first save of 2020 by throwing a scoreless inning with one hit allowed and a strikeout. Manager Dave Martinez went to Hudson instead of reliever Sean Doolittle, who was thought to be Washington's potential closer in 2020. Doolittle hadn't pitched in two days and Hudson had just pitched on Wednesday, so it sure seems like Hudson is the team's closer, at least for now. It's certainly a situation to monitor going forward.--Tim Capurso
