Star Shootout More or Less Contest
More or Less Contest - Mike Clevinger over 7.5 strikeouts and Yu Darvish over 6.5 strikeouts.
Clevinger gets a tough matchup vs. the Twins Friday night, but we just saw what Shane Bieber was able to do to that lineup and I think Clevinger get over the hump and reach eight strikeouts in this game. Last season, Clevinger faced the Twins four times and reached this total twice and just missed it the other two times. The Twins hitters also have nearly a 28% K-rate vs. Clevinger. Clevinger will be amped up for this game, especially when trying to follow the act of Shane Bieber, and I think that is a good thing.
Yu Darvish had a rough debut as he gave up three earned runs to the Brewers across just four innings. This being said, he still managed to strike out five in the down performance. Tonight, he draws a lowly Pirates lineup that has struggled early in the season. They currently have 48 strikeouts across just 159 AB vs. right-handed pitching, which is seventh-worst in the league.

More or Less Contest - Max Muncy more than 1.5 hits/walks and Whit Merrifield more than 1.5 total bases
Max Muncy more than 1.5 hits/walks- Muncy goes up against right-handed pitcher Zac Gallen on Friday night and could find success early on. Muncy hits righties very well as he has had a wOBA over .400 since 2018 and has a .474 wOBA early on in 2020. He will also have an opportunity to face the Diamondbacks pen once Gallen leaves the game. That pen is currently ranked 21st in the league with an abysmal 5.11 ERA and also ranked 25th with a 1.58 WHIP. Muncy has started hot and should continue that trend tonight.
Whit Merrifield more than 1.5 total bases - This one seems like a solid bet as Merrifield has posted solid splits vs. lefties as noted by his .401 and .351 wOBAs in 2018 and 2019, respectively. Tonight, he draws a matchup with the left-hander, Dallas Keuchel, who he has seen success against in the past. Over 13 PA, Merrifield is slashing .500/.538/.583. He should be able to find success tonight as he has also started the season on fire by going 9/27 with two HR.
White Sox @ Royals More or Less Contest
More or Less Contest - Dallas Keuchel more than 3.5 strikeouts and Jorge Soler less than 1.5 hits/walks
While Keuchel is not known as a strikeout pitcher, he should be able to get to 3.5 tonight against the Royals. Currently, the Royals have over a 30% strikeout rate vs. left-handed pitchers. They also have not fared well vs. Keuchel in the past. Overall, the Royals' hitters are a combined 13/63 with 18 K across 69 PA, which is good for a 26% K-rate. Keuchel had one start vs. the Royals in 2019 and he managed to strike out 12 batters across six innings.
Soler is typically better vs. left-handed pitching, but asking him to come away with a combination of two hits/walks may be asking a bit much. He has only managed to achieve this feat twice in the seven games he has played this season. The White Sox pen is also ranked 11th in the league with a 1.15 WHIP, so once Keuchel is out of the game, Soler could struggle to find his way on base.
