Touki Toussaint To Make First Start Of 2020 Saturday
4 years agoAtlanta Braves right-handed pitcher Touki Toussaint has officially taken the spot of right-hander Mike Foltynewicz in the club’s rotation, as the 24-year-old has been tabbed to face the Mets on Saturday. A highly regarded prospect, Toussaint has yet to be given a consistent opportunity to start at the big league level. In his six previous Major League starts, he owns a 5.40 ERA, but has yielded just one home run in 28 ⅓ innings, while striking out 31 batters in that span. He’ll have a fairly difficult task ahead of him, facing a Mets squad that enters play Friday second in the National League in team batting average (.256). While owners will likely want to wait and see on how Toussaint performs his first time through, a positive outing Saturday could make him a waiver wire commodity next week.
