4 years agoA decision has finally been made on San Diego Padres first baseman Eric Hosmer after having been absent from the lineup for six of the team’s first nine games: he’ll be hitting the injured list. While the team had insisted that he was away due to a non-COVID-19 illness, it appears that gastritis is the cause, and it will keep him out of the lineup for at least the next handful of games. In the three games that Hosmer has been on the field, he has looked resurgent, amassing seven RBI in 10 at-bats. Owners will absolutely want to hold onto him for his eventual return as he’ll remain a catalyst in the San Diego lineup. The duo of Ty France and Jake Cronenworth figure to split first-base duties in a platoon manner while Hosmer is sidelined.--Jesse Borek
