Byron Buxton Playing At Less Than 100 Percent
4 years agoMinnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton revealed prior to Saturday’s contest against Cleveland that his injured foot has not completely healed. Buxton’s appearance in the lineup was just his third of the year, not yet having played in back-to-back days in 2020. Having been thrown out trying to steal a base just eight times in his career entering Saturday, Buxton was cut down in the 5th. While Buxton is a premier defensive commodity, his offense and ability to stay on the field has not yet proven consistent enough for him to merit consideration in most season-long formats. With other outfield options available (Jake Cave, Marwin Gonzalez), Buxton will have to hit and run well enough to keep his spot in the everyday starting nine.
