Masahiro Tanaka Lasts Less Than Three Innings
4 years agoNew York Yankees starting pitcher Masahiro Tanaka had an uneven performance on Saturday, allowing two runs (one earned) over 2.2 innings against the Red Sox. Tanaka’s velocity looked good with his fastball averaging 93 mph, and his 15.7% swinging-strike rate was also strong. Tanaka was hit hard though, with a 94.3 mph average exit velocity for the night. Missing from Tanaka’s pitch mix was the cutter that he reportedly worked on this offseason, but that could be due to the short start. Fantasy players should expect Tanaka to last longer in starts going forward, and he’ll likely see his ERA trend towards 4.00.
