Tyler Alexander Ties AL Record With Nine Straight K’s
4 years agoDetroit Tigers left-handed pitcher Tyler Alexander was dominant out of relief during Sunday’s game against the Reds, striking out each of the first nine batters that he faced, which tied the American League record for consecutive batters retired by the K. Alexander fell just a batter shy of tying Hall of Famer Tom Seaver’s all-time record, but did ultimately record 10 straight outs by strikeout. While not known as a strikeout pitcher until last season, Alexander has now kicked off 2020 with 13 strikeouts in four appearances out of the bullpen. As the Tigers eye arms that can give them length in the starting rotation, owners can keep an eye on Alexander moving forward, having shown an early ability to miss bats.
