4 years agoMinnesota Twins pitcher Lewis Thorpe wasn't at his best on Monday night against the Pirates, though his team still got the win. Thorpe lasted four innings, surrendering six hits, four walks and three runs while striking out three batters. The 24-year-old actually had a quick first after giving up a leadoff homer, getting three quick outs on nine pitches. It was the third inning where he lost his control, walking four batters. Thorpe struggled to locate his changeup in the zone and his fastball velocity was down a bit from last year. The silver lining here is that he managed to limit the damage for the most part. It will be interesting to see if Thorpe gets another start with Jake Odorizzi (intercostal), Homer Bailey (biceps) and Rich Hill (shoulder fatigue) all on the injured list.--Tim Capurso
