4 years agoRight-handed pitcher Ariel Jurado was a primetime prospect coming up through the Rangers’ organization, but after two lackluster big league seasons, the 24-year-old was designated for assignment, whereby the Mets claimed him Wednesday. Despite having 44 appearances (26 starts) to his resume, Jurado was reassigned to the team’s alternate training site. Not much jumps off the page when it comes to the right-handers metrics, as he allowed 21 home runs in 122 ⅓ innings last season en route to a 5.81 ERA. But New York is banking on him finding his rhythm, whereby he could become an option in the rotation down the line.--Jesse Borek
