4 years agoTexas Rangers outfielder Joey Gallo had the unfortunate honor of a golden sombrero against the Oakland Athletics on Wednesday evening. In a 6-4 loss to the A's, Gallo went 0-for-4 with four strikeouts. The slugger is now batting .278 with a .992 OPS through 10 games with three home runs, eight RBI, and six walks to 12 strikeouts. He is a top-20 outfielder in OBP leagues but is looking better and better by the at-bat in batting average leagues. Before his season was derailed by injuries in 2019, Gallo was batting .276 through 50 games. It's hard to make sweeping assumptions through 10 games of this season and then adding a subjective 50 games of another season, but it's a trend worth keeping an eye on for the outfielder.--Euan Leith
