4 years agoThe Kansas City Royals appear to be utilizing the duo of Trevor Rosenthal and Ian Kennedy as their closer to begin the 2020 year. Manager Mike Matheny has demurred as it pertains to naming one man to the role after Rosenthal locked down the save Friday, his second of the year. If owners are in desperate need of saves, Rosenthal appears to be the better option of the two at this stage, having compiled seven strikeouts across 5 ⅔ frames, with just one run allowed. Conversely, Kennedy has allowed a hit in four of his five appearances this season, including three home runs in six innings. Barring Kennedy getting multiple save chances in a row, it’s safe to assume that Rosenthal will see the lion’s share of opportunities in the ninth.--Jesse Borek
