Max Muncy Playing Through Fractured Finger
4 years agoLos Angeles Dodgers first/second baseman Max Muncy revealed Saturday that he sustained a fractured ring finger on his left hand during Summer Camp, an ailment that he has played through up to this point. Muncy’s 67 plate appearances entering play Saturday leads the Majors, but his .182 batting average has been vastly below expectations. Muncy has not discussed how much the injury has affected his at-bats, as he is still delivering an above-average 15.4% barrel rate to begin the year. With his slugging percentage (.436) sitting more than 90 points below his xSLG (.527), owners shouldn’t press the panic button on Muncy in light of the announcement as he remains an upper-echelon power bat.
