Didi Gregorius Excelling At Dish To Begin 2020
4 years agoPhiladelphia Phillies shortstop Didi Gregorius has collected a hit in seven of his first eight contests with the club following a two-hit performance Saturday. The .902 OPS that he has compiled puts him on pace for the highest mark of his career, and while his game total has been stunted due to COVID-19 cancellations, he has virtually eliminated the swing and miss from his game, whiffing just 8.9 percent of the time and striking out in just 3.8% of at-bats (both rank in the 99th percentile in the Majors). Manager Joe Girardi has shuffled Gregorius around the lineup to begin the season, hitting in the same spot in back-to-back games just once. He will have the advantage of hitting at Citizens Bank Park for all of the next week, including a three-game series against Baltimore, who doesn’t run many relevant season-long arms out to the hill.
